Chesed Opportunities

At Lev Jewish Academy, chesed and community service are central to our mission of educating the whole child. Guided by Torah values of compassion, responsibility, and kindness, we encourage our students to recognize that every act of chesed has the power to make a meaningful difference.

Beginning in the earliest grades and continuing through Middle School, students participate in age appropriate opportunities to give back to their school, their community, and the broader Jewish world. Through these experiences, they develop empathy, leadership, gratitude, and a lifelong commitment to helping others.

Middle School students complete a minimum of eighteen hours of community service each school year, participating in meaningful volunteer opportunities both on campus and throughout the community.

Within the school, students take on leadership roles by helping to organize school events, assisting younger students and teachers, supporting school programs, and contributing to projects that enhance campus life. These experiences foster responsibility, initiative, and a strong sense of community.

Beyond our school walls, students extend their acts of chesed by visiting seniors in local nursing homes, participating in programs for Holocaust survivors, supporting charitable organizations, collecting donations for families in need, refurbishing electronics for children, and engaging in a variety of service projects that benefit both the Jewish and broader communities.

These meaningful experiences help students understand that chesed is not simply an activity, but a way of life. By putting Torah values into action, our students develop compassion, generosity, and a deep sense of responsibility toward others while growing into thoughtful leaders who strive to make a positive impact wherever they go.
